Obituary for Gladys Nelsen Jorgenson

Rites conducted Saturday for Mrs. Jorgenson

Funeral services for Mrs. Clarence Jorgenson were conducted 
at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31 at Christ the King Lutheran 
church.

Mrs. Jorgenson succumbed to a lingering illness Wednesday 
afternoon, July 28, at Meeker County Memorial hospital in 
Litchfield where she had been a patient for about two 
months.

The Reverend F. David Natwick, pastor, officiated with Mrs. 
Michael Wangerin as organist, Mrs. Lyle Jensen sang the 
hymn "Have Thine Own Way, Lord," and a quartet composed of 
Rolhs Balke, Merlyn Danielson, Loren Olson and Pastor 
Natwick sang "How Great Thou Art."

Burial was in Oakland cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers 
were Ray Clemenson, Maurice Klitze, Virgil Olson, Clinton 
Tracy, Lowell Wright and Louis Yost. 

Mrs. Jorgenson, nee Gladys Nelson, was born at Kenmare, ND, 
Nov. 30 1907, the daughter of the late Martin and Lena 
Nelson.  Her elementary and high school education were 
attained in public schools in Hutchinson and Sidney, Mont.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and 
was an active church member as long as her health 
permitted.  She taught Sunday school for many years and 
also served as president of the Ladies aid of Faith 
Lutheran church in Hutchinson.  She was a charter member of 
Christ the King Lutheran church.

She and Dr. Jorgenson were married in Chicago, Ill., on 
March 30 1926. They lived in Hutchinson for many years 
during which Dr. Jorgenson practiced optometry.  Since his 
retirement, the couple has spent the summers at Lake 
Washington and the winter months at Phoenix, Ariz.

Surviving Mrs. Jorgenson in addition to her husband, are a 
daughter Mrs. Stanley "Dwan" Walters of Willmar, a son, 
Irving R.. Jorgenson of North Brook, Ill., and seven 
grandchildren.  She also leaves one brother, Palmer Nelson, 
of San Diego, Calif.

Preceding Mrs. Jorgenson in death were her parents.
