HENRY HUKR1EDE, the partner of his father in the proprietorship of the Mansard House and who is, also, engaged in operating a blacksmith's shop in Eden Valley, is a native of Westphalia, Germany, born January 5, 1863, and is the second son of William and Mary(Christopher) Hukriede. He came to the United States in 1873, with his parents, and remained upon their farm until the spring of 1882, when he went to Litchfield and there learned the blacksmith's trade. In the spring of 1880, he came to Eden Valley while the graders were still at work here and before the iron upon the railroad was laid and started a blacksmith's shop, and has followed that trade ever since.
