Author: See Below MICHAEL LOVETT, deceased, was at one time a prominent citizen of Manannah township. Ho was a native of County Cavan, Ireland, and came to the United States about the year 1848, and located in the city of Boston, Mass. Two years later he went to the State of New York, where he also lived for about two years, after which he removed to Canada. That Dominion was his home for about eighteen years, and then, in 1870, he came with his family to Meeker county, Minn., and located on a farm in what is now Manannah township, where he remained until the time of his death, on the 29th of April, 1879. He was married to Miss Bridget Fanley, who still survives him. They had a family of nine children, five girls and four boys, whose names were as follows— Bridget, Alice, Peter, Catherine, Mary, Ann, John, Michael and James. All of the children are still living, except Mary and Alice. The widow still carries on the place, which consists of eighty acres of land. She is a member of the Catholic Church, and holds the respect of all who know her. James Lovett, a son of Michael, who owns forty acres of land in the township of Manannah, was born in Canada on the 13th of November, 1S65, and still resides with his mother. He is also a member of the Catholic Church, and in political matters he acts independently of party creed, and votes for the man rather than party.
