She was deeply religious, loved to swim, and loved to travel (warm places like the Bahamas, Florida, etc)- she did so with my Aunt Heidi. Aunt Heidi was my Uncle Pat's first wife, they divorced because of some mental health issues with Heidi, but my Grandmother was deeply attached to her and viewed her as the daughter she never had. So they did almost everything together until the time of her passing. Grandma was an excellent cook, especially all those really good creamy fattening type of foods. She was a nurse, I sent you a nursing school photo of her dated 1935, believe it was her graduation photo from nursing school. She mainly worked in the ER. In her later years she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer driver for many elderly folks - she told me if she ever could go back in life and do one thing, she wanted to be a race car driver! I know that to cover expenses while my dad/uncle were growing up, she opened up her home as a boarding house for many University of Minnesota kids. I know that my dad/uncle/Grandmother lived in many houses outside of the University and took in a lot of foreign students - that's why my dad loves Asian foods so much. Grandma loved to read - everything and anything (I also included a picture of her sitting in a lake on a lawn chair reading a book - very classic Clarice Hallisey). She tanned so dark you'd think she had a bit of Native American in her. Grandma was very involved with her some sort of "Family Reunion" when we came back to visit her in Minnesota (which I hated because I didn't know most of the people and I hated being kissed by so many people I didn't know). ========================================================================= Copyright Marilyn Roberston 2007.
