     MRS. DALTON IS LAID TO REST ON TUESDAY

     Passes This Life Saturday After a Long Lingering Illness From Cancer

     Mrs. Sallie Dalton listened to the command of her divine Master "Come 
unto me and be at rest," Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert 
Colberg, and died after months of suffering from cancer.  She was born 
October 20th, 1869, in Wayne county, Virginia.  She came to Dassel 27 years 
ago and was married to Robert Dalton of this village in the fall of 1901.  
After his death in 1915 she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Albert 
Colberg.
     She had been a sufferer from cancer for nearly two years, everything 
that medical science could do being tried but without avail.  She bore her 
suffering with Christian fortitude and was patient and cheerful until the 
end.  She enjoyed the respect and love of all who knew her and is mourned 
by a large circle of friends.  The immediate survivors are her daughters, 
Mrs. Albert Colberg of this village, Mrs. Lloyd Howie of Dennison and her 
aged mother, Mrs. Mary Perdue, of Amery, Wis., two sisters, Mrs. J. L. 
Rutherford, living here, and Mrs. George Miller of Amery, Wis.; two brothers, 
Lee Perdue of LaFayette, Ind., and Ewele Perdue of Minneapolis, four grandsons 
and other relatives.
     The funeral was held from the home Tuesday and was largely attended.  
The pallbearers were her two grandsons, Fred and John Colberg, two nephews, 
Drew Rutherford, and Dewey Perdue, of Minneapolis, and Lester and Norman 
Mattson of Minneapolis.  The flower bearers were Mercella Sexton of Watertown, 
Harriet Harmann of Litchfield, Irene and Frances Shelley of Darwin; Mary 
Rutherford and Theresa Printy of Dassel.  The choir singers were from Litchfield 
and were Mesdames Tony Borden and Axel Johnson and Misses Harmann and Borden.  
Griswold Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, of which the deceased was a past 
Matron, held the beautiful funeral service of the order at the home.  
Rev. Harmann of Litchfield conducted the last rites and she was laid to rest 
in the Dassel cemetery.
     Those from out of town who attended the funeral were:  Mr. and Mrs. 
George Miller of Amery, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Howie and children of 
Dennison; Mrs. Wm. Bell of Biscay, Mrs. Frank Lynch of Eden Valley; Mrs. Richard  
Sisson of Willmar; Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Perdue of Minneapolis; Mrs. Eph. Mattson 
and Carol of Minneapolis; Ewele Perdue of Minneapolis; Marcella Sexton of 
Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Shelley of Darwin; Mrs. Ralph   ness of Perley; 
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith of Litchfield; Miss Lien of Litchfield; Chas. Sisson 
of Litchfield; Mrs. McBroom of Atwater.


[Sallie Perdue was the daughter of Saint Luke Perdue and his wife Mary F. Brumfield.
She married her first husband, John M. Ferguson, on March 29, 1888 in Wayne County, 
West Virginia.]
