Little Falls on Monday, February 10, 2007 Dorothy E. Michalek, 84 year old resident of Randall, passed away Thursday (Feb. 8) at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 AM at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Rev. Rob Bellin officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 5-7 PM and Monday from 10 AM until the service at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Dorothy was born at home, April 26, 1922 near Randall, MN to the late Victor & Edith ’Price’ Strand. She grew up in rural Randall and attended country school. Dorothy was united in marriage to Leo E. ’Mac’ Michalek on January 7, 1940 in St. Paul, MN. In 1945, the couple moved to Randall and purchased the Shell Filling Station, which they owned for five years. Dorothy worked as a clerk at Magee’s Grocery Store in Randall for 40 years, retiring in 1992. Dorothy was a life member of the Randall VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing and was known as the ’quarter lady.’ Every child she met, she would give two quarters. In 1999, Dorothy was honored as the Randall/Cushing Citizen of the Year. She became a resident of St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, Feb. 1, 2007. Dorothy E. Michalek is survived by; Daughter; Jeri Betts & husband, Larry of Little Falls, MN Grand daughter: Tonia Maciej & husband, Gerry of Foley, MN Great granddaughter; Sara Maciej of Foley, MN Brothers: Douglas Strand of Meszquite, Texas Harold Strand & wife, Jean of Dover, NH Sister: Carol Warner of Inver Grove Heights, MN Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Leo ’Mac’ Michalek, Jan. 25, 1999 and a brother, Wayne Strand.
