August Sukow



 August Sukow was born on March 19, 1860 in Regenwald, Pommern, Prussia.  

He was the second child and first son born to August Karl and Carolina 

Mundt Sukow.  He was two years younger than his older sister Albertina 

Sukow Stern.  His two younger sisters were Bertha born in 1863 and 

Augusta born in 1867.  August immigrated to the United States in 1884. 

His mother and three sisters immigrated to the United States and lived in 

Mower County, Minnesota.  He married Augusta Neubauer (born in 1856).  



August and Augusta had five daughters and five sons.

 August was a farmer, and the family lived on a farm in Mower County, 

Dexter Township.  They were members of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran 

Church.  Their children's births, baptisms, confirmations, marriages and 

other family events are recorded in the church records.  His wife Augusta 

died on June 3, 1933 in Mower County at the age of 77.  August died on 

August 31, 1945 at St. Olaf Hospital in Mower County, Minnesota at the 

age of 85.  The cause of death listed on his death certificate is 

Diabetes Mellitus with Acidosis and arteriosclerosis.  August and his 

wife are buried at the Trinity Evangelical Cemetery in Dexter Township 

with their daughters Maria and Bertha.
