Keist held here on Last Saturday Aged Man, Resident here for 22 Years Passed Away on June 1st After Only Brief Illness. Funeral services for James H. Keist aged Grand Meadow man whose death on June 1st was briefly recorded in this newspaper last week, were held at the home of Sam Keist in Grand Meadow last Saturday afternoon interment being made in the local cemetery. Rev. C.P. Baenziger pastor of the Methodist church officiated. Out of town relatives here for the funeral were: Mrs. and Mrs. Paul BeDunnah, Mrs. Preston BeDunnah Mr and Mrs. Lewis Hendricks and baby all of Greensburg, Indiana; Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Keist son Alfred and daughter; Mrs. Harold Arbuckle and Roy Durst of Hudson Illinois; Mrs. Peter Pederson, Mrs. Al Smith Arthur Thur Lewis Miller G.H. Harris Mildred and Hazel Keist, all of Austin. James Henderson Keist was born in Coshockton Ohio on Aug. 1, 1848 and died on June 1, 1932 at the age of 83 years and 10 months. In 1871 he was married to Sarah Margaret Hines. They made their home in Indiana and later moved to Omega, Illinois where they lived until the death of his wife. Five sons and one daughter were born to this union. Sam, the youngest of the family was a little baby at the time of the death of his mother. The deceased with family lived for a while in Sparta, Indiana and later again in Illinois. During the 1st 22 years he made his home with his youngest son Sam Keist of Grand Meadow. While he lived in Sparta, Indiana he became a member of the Baptist church. During the 22 years he lived in Grand Meadow he seldom went anywhere, attending strictly to his own affairs. He was highly respected in the community for his industry in trying to do whatever he could. His departure is mourned by one daughter, Mrs. Mabel BeDunnah of Greensberg, Indiana; four son, Leonard, Nathan and Isaac of Hudson Illinois and Sam of Grand Meadow; 14 grand children and 5 great grandchildren other relatives and friends. A son Harvey of Franklin, Pa., died in 1925.
