FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: June 2005 ========================================================================= Dolores (Loling) Requiron Albia was born on April 25, 1912, in Pinamungajan, Cebu, Phillipines to Victor and Pelomina Requiron Albia. After finishing her third year of high school, Dolores worked as a dress maker. Following the conclusion of World War II, she completed high school in San Carlos, Negros Occidental, Phillipines and attended Southwestern University in Cebu City, Cebu, Phillipines where she graduated with a teaching certificate. Dolores worked as an elementary teacher in a number of public schools including Cabaasan, Pinamungajan, and Tutay. For the majority of her teaching career, she was a third grade teacher in Tajao and retired in 1977. Dolores considered education as the key to a productive life. Dolores shared what she considered her prosperity by finically supporting a number of relatives through college. Dolores was an active Girl Scout leader during her years as a teacher. She was an active member of the Pinimungajan Parish Church. She enjoyed sewing and gardening, and kept herself surrounded with friends and family. She traveled extensively throughout the Phillipines. In 1982, Dolores first visited the United States to live with her daughter Elsa Carney and family in rural Chandler, Minnesota. During the next 18 years, Dolores made her home in rural Chandler and visited Pinimungajan several times. She was accompanied to the ancestral home in 2000 by members of her immediate family. She remained in Pinimungajan until she passed from this life at her home in the company of family on Saturday evening May 7, 2005. Dolores is survived by her daughter Elsa Albia Carney (Leon), rural Chandler, Minnesota; grandson Miron Carney (Cheryl), Slayton, Minnesota; granddaughter Wasenda Carney, Iona, Minnesota; great-grandchildren Alexander and Meghan Carney, Slayton, Minnesota; and sisters Gerundia Buot and Wilhelmina Mombay. She was preceded in death by her mother Pelomina Requiron Albia; father Victor Albia; brothers: Alfredo, Agustin and an infant brother; and sisters Celedonia Paslon, Consorcia Capitan, and Felicidad Labang. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Pinimungajan Catholic Church.
