FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: November 2004 ========================================================================= 1917 - Milford Eugene Anderson - 2004 Milford was born July 13, 1917, in Westbrook, Minnesota to Oscar and Edith (Seger) Anderson. He was baptized September 29, 1917, and was confirmed April 23, 1933, at Dundee, Minnesota. He attended school at Wausa, Nebraska before moving back to Minnesota with his parents. Milford did general farm work prior to moving to California where he attended Aircraft School and later worked in an airplane plant in Alhambra, California. On March 21, 1941, Milford was inducted into the Army in Los Angeles, California and served nearly five years during World War II at various camps in California and overseas. He landed on Utah Beach and served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He attained the rank of Staff Sgt. and was honorably discharged on November 19, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. On September 8, 1943, Milford was united in marriage to Geraldine Gerry Hass, of Westbrook, by Pastor Otto Krueger. To this union their son Curtis was born. The family lived in Storden for three years, then farmed near Westbrook for 27 years. Milford retired and moved to Westbrook in 1977. Milford liked to travel, fish and read. He and Gerry traveled to the Southern and Eastern states and Canada. They had a travel trailer on Rush Lake for several years. He went salmon fishing several times and enjoyed spending time with Curtis and his family. Milford especially enjoyed his three grandchildren: Daniel, Michael and Christine. He was a member of the Westbrook VFW and American Legion. He served on the Rosehill Township Board for many years and was Rosehill Township Assessor for several years. Milford passed away Monday, November 8, 2004, at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center at the age of 87. Milford Anderson is survived by his wife Gerry; son Curtis; daughter-in-law Jeanette; and three grandchildren: Daniel, Michael and Christine of Woodbury, MN; brother Vernon (Donna) Anderson,f LeSeur and sister Leone Arfsten, Annandale. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Vincent and Oliver; and sister-in-law Arlene. Funeral services were held Friday, November 12, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Interment will be in the Westbrook Cemetery. The Westbrook Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
