FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: January 2005 ========================================================================= Ken Anderson was born May 9, 1925 at his home in Mason Township, Murray County, Minnesota to Walter and Anna Widboom Anderson. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On March 9, 1945 Ken enlisted in the U.S. Army and later transferred to the Air Force and served in the Pacific Theatre in WWII. Following his discharge on December 11, 1946 he returned to the family farm. On March 28, 1952 he and Fay Wiese were married at the Baptist Parsonage in rural Slayton. Following their marriage they farmed in Mason Township until 1969 when they moved to a farm in Lake Sarah Township. After his retirement in 1989 they moved to Slayton. Ken became a resident of the Slayton Manor in 2003. In 2004 Ken became a resident of the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Luverne and passed away there on January 23, 2005 at the age of 79. He was a member of Lake Sarah Baptist Church in rural Slayton and also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Slayton where he had served as trustee. Ken also was a member of the Slayton VFW. Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Fay; three children and their spouses, Del and Sandra Anderson of Garvin, MN, Debbi and Daren Carlson of St. Cloud, MN and Mari and David Haecherl of Garvin, MN; eight grandchildren, Kristin, Leah, Tyler and Brett Anderson, Sarah Carlson Granados and her husband, Fernando, Justin Carlson and his wife, Teri, Anna and Ben Haecherl; one great-grandson, Parker McNeil and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Anderson of Paynesville, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lorna Eisfeld and brother, Raymond Anderson. Funeral Services were held at First Presbyterian Church Slayton, MN at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 with the Rev. Rollin Haynes officiating. The organist was Nola Aanenson. The soloist was Lori Sternborg. The pallbearers were Dale Peterson, Don Peterson, John Peterson, Paul Tuszynski, Perry McNeil, Tyler Anderson, Brett Anderson and Ben Haecherl. Interment is at Lake Sarah Baptist Church in rural Slayton, MN . Military Honors provided by the Slayton VFW. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is in charge of arrangements. Visitation was on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
