He was born Feb. 14, 1921, in Norway. He married Helen Kubly Feb. 14, 1950, in Renwick, Iowa. He moved to America with his parents when he was 2 years old. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a salvage diver. After the service he started farming. Following marriage, the couple later moved to Fulda, where he farmed until his retirement. They moved into Fulda in 1994 and spent many winters in Arizona. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Marcia (Craig) Rocheleau, Eagan, and Jean (John) Maertens, Fulda; and grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Totzke Funeral Home, Fulda, and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, Avoca. The service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, Avoca, with the Rev. Ted Kunze officiating. Burial, with military honors by Fulda VFW Post 9017 and American Legion Post 318, will be in Slayton Memorial Gardens. ========================================================================= Copyright Judy Clarke 2006.
