The name and date of the paper are unknown. However, there is a handwritten note "Aug 31, 1933".) "Friends here were shocked and grieved at the death of J.C. Barnard of Chandler in an automobile accident Thursday afternoon. Mr. Barnard was a brother-in-law of Archie McHarg and Mrs. Ray Viers. The sudden death of Mrs. Barnard just a few months ago was one of those sudden passings which leave a community with a stricken feeling and this second death leaving a son, Clifford, and a daughter, Lorraine, orphans seems to sad for words to express. After funeral services in Chandler, Sunday afternoon, where hundreds of friends paid their last tribute of respect to the departed, the remains were brought to Fulda for interment beside those of his wife in Prairie Hill cemetery. A SEPARATE OBIT WHICH IS NOT COMPLETELY READABLE STATES THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: * Barnard, Brother of County Treasurer Is Instantly Killed In Auto Mishap * instantly killed in an automobile accident at the east Chandler hill at 5:00 that afternoon * plunged over a 12-foot embankment * Lorraine was thrown clear of the car and was unhurt * It is thought that the victim was blinded by the sun shining directly into his eyes * Curtis Barnard was born March _______ at Claremont, Minnesota * With his parents he moved to Nobles county in 1879, where they resided until 1896, when they moved to a farm five miles south of Chandler. Later they moved to Murray county. * united in marriage to Miss Jessie McHarg, of Fulda, on _________ 7th, 1911, at Slayton. * They made their home in Minneapolis where Mr. Barnard was employed as a machinest. * left to mourn his passing, besides his son and daughter, three sisters, Mrs. _____ Holbrook, of Grygla; Mrs. Ed. H. _____ of Mora, and Mrs. J.P. Lang, of __________and one brother, H. Delos ______ of Slayton
