FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: February 2005 ========================================================================= Esther Marie Bassett was born on October 23, 1917 on a farm near Currie, Minnesota to Carl F. and Ellen Anderson Forsberg. Esther lived all of her life in the Currie area. She attended country school, Currie High School and then studied one year at Mankato State College. On April 14, 1941 she and Ray Bassett were married at IHM church in Currie. Following their marriage, they rented seven different farms before they purchased their present farm in Mason Twp. southwest of Currie. Due to failing health, Esther entered the Tracy Nursing Home in 2002. Ray passed away on July 16, 2003. Esther passed away at the Tracy Nursing Home on February 8, 2005 at the age of 87. Esther was a member of IHM Church, honorary member of the W.C.C.W. and belonged to the Catholic Daughters. Esther enjoyed cooking, playing cards, embroidering and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, three sons and their spouses: Lenore (Lori) Duffy of Pontiac, IL; Herbert and Judy Bassett of LaCrosse, WI; Jane and John Weis of Currie; Kenneth (Mike) and Deb Bassett of Currie and Tim Bassett of Worthington; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Kristina Setterberg of Slayton; Ellen DeBlieck of Clarissa, MN Eva Kromer of Albuquerque, NM and Elsie Lindberg of Currie. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray, son, Chesleigh, two infant children, son-in-law, Jerry Duffy, one great grandson, Samuel, sister, Ruth Widboom and two brothers, Carl Forsberg and Nels Forsberg. Funeral Services were held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 11:00 AM with Monsignor Paul Evers officiating. The organist was Patty LeClaire. The song leader and soloist was Gene Dold. The pallbearers were all of her grandchildren. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery, Currie, MN.
