John Christensen officiating. 1928 - Zelma Rose Benson - 2004 Zelma Rose Benson was born February 29, 1928, at Fulda, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Vivian (Johnson) VanKlei. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. On January 28, 1951, she married Gaylen G. Benson at the Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, Minnesota. Zelma passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, Minnesota at the age of 76. She is survived by her husband Gaylen; daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Matt Newby, Lodi, California; grand-daughters: Anna Alease and Alyssa Rose; brother Arie VanKlei, Balaton, MN; sister Jean Waage, Marshall, MN; sister Hazel (Cy) Molitor, Lynd, MN; brothers John, 'Jack', Van Klei, Wichita, KS and Jesse 'Peter' (Pat) Van Klei, Friendship, Wisconsin and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Vivian VanKlei and sister Tillie Kubica. Memorial services were held on Saturday, November 13, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at Lyndale Lutheran Church, Maple Plain, MN with Rev. John Christensen officiating. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 15, 2004, 10:30 a.m. at Hadley Lutheran Church, Hadley, MN with Rev. Jon Skaar officiating. Interment in Highland Home Cemetery, Hadley, MN.
