FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: December 2004 ========================================================================= 1926 - Walter Francis Bockenstedt - 2004 Wally Bockenstedt was born on February 17, 1926, at Fulda, Minnesota to Walter and Bridget Durnan Bockenstedt. He grew up on the family farm east of Fulda and attended St. Gabriel s School. He went to work for the railroad. He and Agnes Venenga were married on October 8, 1953, at St. Mary s Church in Worthington, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa where Wally worked as a meat inspector for the USDA. In 1957, they returned to Fulda and Wally continued working for the USDA. Wally retired in 1987. Agnes died on December 25, 2002. Wally continued living in Fulda. He died at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on December 17, 2004, at the age of 78. He was a life long member of St. Gabriel s Church. Wally enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with his family and many friends. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law: John and Lori Bockenstedt, Sioux Falls, SD; and three grandchildren: Daniel, Danielle and Cody Bockenstedt, all of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Agnes. Funeral services were held at St. Gabriel s Church in Fulda, MN on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. with Monsignor Paul Evers officiating. The organist was Mary Ann Boom. The song leader was Sheila Crowley. The pallbearers were Tom Zemler, Roger Gerber, Lyle Beeck, Ed Wieskus, Lynn Behr and Art Buschena. Interment is in St. Gabriel s Cemetery, Fulda, MN.
