She grew up on the family farm and attended country school district 36. Luella was united in marriage to Emery Brady on September 6, 1943 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fulda, MN. After their marriage, they lived and farmed northwest of Fulda, MN. After their retirement in 1975, they moved into Fulda. Emery passed away in March of 1999. Luella moved to Luverne, MN in 2003 and entered the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Center and passed away on February 10, 2005 at the age of 84 from complications with progressive supranuclear palsy. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church where she served on the Fulda Chapter of Catholic Women and alter guild and belonged to the rosary club. Luella was a member of Bondin-Belfast Extension Group and the Maple Lawn Pink Ladies. She was a past member of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home Board. She enjoyed gardening, sewing quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making rosaries for her friends, neighbors and the Missions along with crocheting and baking. Survivors include her six children and their spouses, Janet and Dennis Gillespie of Clarkston, MI, Michael and Joan Brady of Forest, VA, Mary and Michael Becker of Blaine, MN, Dennis and Linda Brady of Luverne, MN, Diane and Ron Kirchner of Avoca, MN and Eileen Waltz of Marshall, MN; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Hakeneis and Bernice Schuster and her husband, Henry; three brothers and their spouses, Allen and Elva Lehnhoff, Eugene and Rosie Lehnhoff and Bruce and Alice Lehnhoff. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Emery and two brothers, Vern and Marvin Lehnhoff. Funeral service: St. Gabriel's Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 1:30 PM on Sunday, February 13, 2005 with the Msgr. Eugene Egan celebrating. The organist is Judy Andrews. The soloist is Tom Andrews. The pallbearers are her grandsons Brian Gillespie, Kevin Brady, Jeff Becker, Troy Kirchner, Todd Kirchner, Terry Kirchner, Trent Kirchner and Curtis Waltz. Interment is at St. Gabriel's Catholic Cemetery, Fulda, MN. Hospice of the Luverne Community Hospital will dedicate a tree in Luella's memory.
