FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: November 2004 ========================================================================= 1929 Marvin Brouwer 2004 Marvin Brouwer was born on June 28, 1929 to John and Wilhelmina (Vende Kieft) Brouwer on the family farm near Chandler, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended country school District 87 near Chandler. As a young man he worked as a hired man on a farm near Leota, MN On August 6, 1948 Marvin married Rose Kruger in Chandler where they made their home. Marvin operated the Standard Oil Station in Chandler for 13 years, when in 1951 he moved his family to Hadley, MN. Over the years Marvin sold livestock equipment, worked at Champion Homes in Slayton, MN and was a Watkins dealer. He was a current member of the Iona Presbyterian Church, serving as both elder and trustee and also served on the church cemetery board. Marvin was an avid sports fan enjoying hunting, fishing, baseball, and bowling. He had a passion for watching all sports and enjoyed his morning coffee with friends. On Friday, October 15, Marvin died at the McKennen Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 75. Marvin is survived by his wife Rose; three daughters, Jeanine (Terry) Lloyd of North Mankato, MN, Anita Brouwer of Slayton, MN and Darla (Richard) Van Meveren of Hurley, SD; three sons, Loren of Pipestone, MN, Verlyn of Lake Wilson, MN, and John of Hadley, MN; eight grandchildren, Dina Landphair, Barb Lloyd, Victoria, Kyle, Kyra and Karl Brouwer, Travis and Tony Van Meveren; two great grandchildren, Alex and Desirea Brouwer; one sister, Arlene (Cliff) DeZeeuw of El Paso, TX, one brother, Albert (Betty) Brouwer of Hendresonville, NC; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His parents, two infant sisters, one infant brother, one brother, Wilbert, and one sister- in- law, Mimi preceded him in death. Funeral service were held Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Iona Presbyterian Church, Iona, MN with Rev. Rollin Haynes officiating. Interment is in Badger Lake Presbyterian Cemetery, Iona Township, MN.
