FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: January 2005 ========================================================================= 1911 - Frieda Louise Burns - 2005 Frieda Burns was born on February 14, 1911, in Murray County, Minnesota to Albert and Anna Rachuy Bloch. She grew up on a farm near Currie. Frieda attended Country School District 46. With her two sons Eugene and Robert Burns and her mother, Frieda moved to Iona from Westbrook in 1939. Frieda moved to the Southgate Apartments on December 31, 1973, and lived there until January 2001, when she became a resident of Slayton Manor. She moved to the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center in April 2001 and passed away there on January 1, 2005 at the age of 93. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton and previously belonged to Zion Lutheran Church in Iona. Frieda loved listening to the Minnesota Twins on her radio, especially after her granddaughter Jeanie Burns Hrbek, married the first baseman in 1985. Throughout the years, Frieda's grandchildren and great-grandchildren have always put a sparkle in her eyes and a smile on her face. Their visits were always precious to her. She enjoyed horses and horseback riding, and herding cattle. Survivors include her two sons and their wives: Gene and Doris Burns, Bloomington, MN and Bob and Ruth Burns, Claire City, SD; five grandchildren: Doug Burns, Tom Burns, Nancy and Kevin Gaukler, Jeanie and Kent Hrbek, Paula and Todd Ebel; four great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Burns, Heidi Hrbek, Maxine Anna and Erich Ebel; and a brother Louis Bloch, Westbrook, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Arnold Bloch Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Thursday, January 6, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. John T. Stern officiating. The organist is Kathy Schwartz. Pallbearers are Doug Burns, Tom Burns, Del Bloch, Chad Bloch, Jeff Bloch, Tyson Bloch and Nancy Burns Gaukler. Interment is in Westbrook Cemetery, Westbrook, MN. Visitation is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton and at the church one hour prior to the service.
