Edmundson was born January 8, 1912, to Andrew and Herminia (Beyer) Edmundson at their home in Cameron Township, Murray County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Country School District #44. He then farmed along with his family until 1940. On september 6, 1940, Herman married Evelyn Baseman and they made their home on a farm in Cameron Township. Evelyn died on January 8, 1947. On December 1, 1948, Herman married Dorothy A. Schoening at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, Minnesota and they continued to farm until his retirement in 1977. In 1978, they moved into Lake Wilson and in February of 2002, Herman became a resident of the Slayton Manor Nursing Home in Slayton, Minnesota. Herman was a farmer his whole life and a member of the Polled Shorthorn Association and showed cattle for many years. He was also a life-long member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening, flowers and spending time with his family and friends. In his time in the Slayton Manor he made many friends with the residents and staff there. On Friday, April 8, 2005, Herman died at the Slayton Manor in Slayton at the age of 93. Herman is survived by his wife Dorothy, Lake Wilson; one daughter Beverly (Roger) Ziemer, Cedar, MN; one son Andrew (Edna) Edmundson, Woodstock, MN; six grandchildren: Amy Kruse, Jill and Paula Edmundson, Cheryl Horner, Scott Ziemer and Dawn Anderson; six great-grandchildren; Angela and Ryan Horner, Amanda and Kory Anderson and Dustin and Amber Ziemer; two sisters: Agnes Riemer, Tyler, MN and Clara Gilbertson, Lake Wilson, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents; first wife Evelyn; one son Herman, Jr., one daughter Marie, one stepdaughter Betty and three brothers: Carl, Lawrence and Henry preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 13, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, MN. Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Lake Wilson, MN. Arrangements by the Chandler Funeral Association in Chandler.
