FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: April 2007 ========================================================================= Albert LeRoy Eisfeld was born on June 8, 1917, on a farm near Lake Wilson, Minnesota to Carl and Ida Gernnetz Eisfeld. Albert grew up on the family farm and attended country school District # 22 in Cameron Township, Murray County. On June 6, 1942, Albert enlisted in the United States Army. While on furlough from the Army he and Maaikje (Margaret) Van Eck were married at the Eisfeld family farm on January 20, 1943. Following their marriage they lived in Oakland, California for a year. After Albert’s discharge in 1943, they returned to Minnesota to begin farming. They farmed near Ruthton for two years, southwest of Balaton for three years, and ten years northwest of Lake Wilson. In 1960, they moved to a farm seven miles north of Lake Wilson where they lived until retiring in 1975 and moving to Slayton. Margaret passed away on January 24, 2000. Albert remained in their home until December 3, 2003, when he became a resident of the Slayton Manor. In August 2006, Albert moved to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, Minnesota and passed away there on March 18, 2007, at the age of 89. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton and a former member of Ellsborough Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, Minnesota. Albert held various offices at Ellsborough Lutheran Church - Trustee, Deacon, and Vice President. He also was a senior high Sunday school teacher. He served as president of the Lake Wilson PTA for a year. Albert also was a member of the Lake Wilson American Legion Post. Albert enjoyed woodworking, playing the accordion, reading his Bible, listening to music, cooking, gardening and farming. Survivors include his two daughters and their spouses: Marjorie and Orvin Severeid, Ennis, MT; and Shirley and Joel Herrmann, High Point, NC; one daughter-in-law Marcie Eisfeld, Lake Wilson, MN; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother Elwin Eisfeld, Slayton, MN; and special friend Lucille Magnus, Avoca, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret; one son David Eisfeld; four brothers: Clarence, Walter, Herman, and Raymond Eisfeld; five sisters: Elizabeth Eisfeld, Laura Eisfeld, Dora Eisfeld, Lydia Belling and Ruby Qualey. Funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on March 22, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ted Kunze officiating. The organist was LaDean Lang. The soloist was Arnie Guild. Sharing special family memories was Jodie Herrmann. The pallbearers were Joel Herrmann, Orvin Severeid, Kyle Severeid, Fritz Carlson, Rueben Wee and David Swartz. Military honors accorded by the Lake Wilson American Legion Post.
