FileFormatted by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: October 2004 ========================================================================= IN MEMORY OF Carl Fredrick Forsberg Memorial services were held at Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton, MN on Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. with David Erickson officiating. 1916 - Carl Fredrick Forsberg - 2004 Carl Forsberg was born on October 14, 1916, at Omaha, Nebraska to Carl and Elin Carlson Forsberg. The family moved to Minnesota when he was a youth. He attended country school and graduated from Currie Public High School. He farmed with his father. On September 2, 1940, he and Agnes Reinart were married at Balaton, Minnesota. They farmed near Iona for two years before moving to their farm east of Currie. They retired and moved into Currie in 1979. Due to health problems, they moved to Southgate Apartments and Maple Tree Estates in Slayton in 2001. Carl became a resident of Westbrook Good Samaritan Center in August 2004 and passed away there on September 11, 2004, at the age of 87. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Currie where he had served as trustee and as an ordained elder. He belonged to the Currie Boosters and Farm Bureau, and had served on the Country School Board #46. Carl boxed as a young man. He enjoyed being a farmer, and spending summers at the cottage on Lake Shetek, boating and fishing. Survivors include his wife Agnes Forsberg, Slayton, MN; two daughters a son: Jeanne and her husband Jim March, Mapleton, MN; Eileen Tibbetts, Coleman, TX and Richard Forsberg, Adrian, MN; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and five sisters: Kristina Setterberg, Slayton; Esther Bassett, Tracy, MN; Ellen DeBlieck, Clarissa, MN; Eva Kromer, Berinillo, NM and Elsie Lindberg, Currie, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; four infant children; a brother Nels Forsberg and sister Ruth Widboom. Memorial services were held at Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton, MN on Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. with David Erickson officiating. The organist was Wendy Steffen. Special music by the church choir. Interment is in Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN
