FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: December 2004 ========================================================================= 1932 - Charlene Florence Foster - 2004 Charlene Foster was born on May 11, 1932, in Slayton, Minnesota to Richard and Florence Schellenberg Lober. She grew up in Avoca and Fulda, graduating from Fulda High School in 1950. She went on to study business at Mankato Commercial College. On February 14, 1954, she and Robert Foster were married at St. Paul s Lutheran Church in Fulda, Minnesota. Following their marriage they farmed near Slayton until 1961 when they moved to their current home where they raised their children. Charlene became a student at Southwest State College in Marshall and earned her business and accounting degree in 1973. Over the years, she worked at Taarud Tire Service, Roy Reitz, the Herald, Farm Bureau, and then in the business office of the Murray County Memorial Hospital for many years from which she retired in 1994. She also did tax work for people for many years. Robert passed away on September 26, 1984. Charlene and Joe Kesteloot were married in June 1994, and were married for eight years. Charlene passed away on December 10, 2004, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 72. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Slayton where she served on the Board of Trustees, taught Sunday School and belonged to United Methodist Women. Charlene also was a Hospice of Murray County volunteer. She was a member of the Busy Bees' Extension Club, Sewing Club, Avoca Federated Women, Slayton VFW Auxiliary, Murray County Historical Society, Red Hat Society and had been a 4-H leader. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, baking, and spending time with her family, grandchildren and many friends. Survivors include one son, two daughters and their spouses: Allan and Susan Foster, Blaine, MN; Corrine McNab and Kevin Campbell, Stevensville, MT and Susan and Randy McDonald, Evergreen, CO; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Lober Jr., Slayton; two sisters-in-law: Phyllis and her husband Jim Minehart, Minneapolis; Joan Foster, Slayton; and several nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Foster; daughter Patricia Foster; son John Foster; mother and father-in-law, and brother- in-law Sidney Foster. Memorial services were held at United Methodist Church in Slayton on Sunday, December 12, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating. The organist was Janet Voges
