He grew up in Luverne and attended school there graduating from the Luverne High School in 1956. He then attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD majoring in Business. George was united in marriage to Carol Steichen at White Lake, SD in 1961. After their marriage they lived in Creston, IA, Milwaukee, WI, Davenport, IA and Cottage Grove, MN while George worked for F.W. Woolworth for 28 years. In 1987 they purchased a variety store in Slayton, MN, which they operated until their retirement in 2004. They moved to a farm northeast of Fulda, MN in November of 2006. George passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the Sanford Hospital in Luverne, MN at the age of 69. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Slayton and past member of St. Thomas Aquinias in St. Paul Park, MN where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, a youth group volunteer and served as the President of the parish council. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He became a fourth degree member at St. Ann’s. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and most of all, teasing and playing with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Carol of Fulda, MN, six children and their spouses, Bruce and Caren Fremstad of Nisswa, MN, Susan and John Lang of Fairfax Station, VA, Denise and James Lecuyer of Stillwater, MN, Lisa Fremstad and her fiancée, Al Hays of Roberts, WI, Jill and Scott Bultmann of Fulda, MN and Scott and Katie Fremstad of South St. Paul, MN; eighteen grandchildren; sister, Beverly Davis of Magnolia, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jeffrey Fremstad. Funeral services were held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church Slayton, MN at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 with the Fr. Bob Horihan officiating. The organist was Sharon Lais. Special music by Debbie Herrick, Shawn Davis and Stephanie Fremstad. The pallbearers were Benjamin Fremstad, Kent Davis, Shawn Davis, Kevin Davis, Lynn Herrick, Mike Cronin, Peter Lecuyer and Nathanial Fremstad. Honorary pallbearers were Noah Lecuyer, Matthew Fremstad, Bradley Finke, Allan Fremstad, Andrew Lang and Gary Bultmann. Interment at St. Thomas Aquinias Cemetery St. Paul Park, MN.
