FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: June 2005 ========================================================================= 1914 - Genevieve Marie Gilfillan - 2005 Genevieve was born on November 5, 1914, at Heron Lake, Minnesota to Frederick and Erla Heinze Berreau. The family moved to a farm near Woodstock and Genevieve attended country school. She graduated from Lake Wilson High School in 1932 and then completed her studies at the Calhoun Secretarial School in Minneapolis in 1934. She and Durwood Gilfillan were married at Flandreau, South Dakota on December 21, 1940. They lived in Racine, Wisconsin until 1950, where they owned and operated a machine shop. They moved to California and lived in Los Angeles, Canoga Park, Campbell, San Jose and Felton. While living in San Jose, they owned and operated a bookstore and after moving to Fenton, they continued with their mail order book business. Durwood died on June 15, 1995. Genevieve moved back to Lake Wilson, Minnesota in 1997. She passed away at the home of her brother, Fred Berreau on April 27, 2005, at the age of 90. She was interested in politics and the study of history connected with it. Genevieve enjoyed traveling, and collecting, reading and studying books. Survivors include her two brothers and their wives: Fred and Fran Berreau, Woodstock, MN and Joe and Cloyce Berreau, Benson, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters: Gertrude Johnson, Meredith Hebl and Eileen Schuur. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Church in Lake Wilson, MN on Saturday, April 30, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Patrick Arens officiating. Special music is by Group Therapy and Almie Carlson. Pallbearers were all nephews, Dana Berreau, Jon Berreau, Chad Berreau, Michael Berreau, Mike Berreau, and Keith Johnson.
