Gravett, 75, died Sunday, July 3, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Hope Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at George Boom Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Vincent Donald Gravett, son of G. Donald and Genevieve (Hager) Gravett, was born in Slayton, MN on December 27, 1929. He grew up and received his education in Fulda, MN. He graduated from high school in 1947. Shortly after he graduated his family moved to Sioux Falls. Vince began working for the John Morrell Co. after he moved to Sioux Falls. Vince also served as a cook for the Army in Italy during the Korean conflict. He married Vera Larson on May 18, 1962 in Luverne, MN. To this union two children were born. Vince retired from John Morrell Co. in 1988 after 40 years of work. In his free time Vince loved to watch baseball, especially the New York Yankees. He also was a season ticket holder for the Sioux Falls Canaries for over 10 years. He loved all sports but baseball was his favorite. Vince collected coins and still has the silver dollars from his and Vera’s honeymoon in Montana. He also loved his two dogs, Allie and Bud. In his early years he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Vince was known for his quick wit and joke telling. He was always trying to make you laugh. Most of all Vince loved to spend time with his family. He will be greatly missed. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Vera Gravett, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Barbara Mehlhaff and her husband Paul, Lombard, IL; son, James Gravett and his wife Heidi, Sioux Falls, SD; two grandsons, Mason and Peyton Gravett, Sioux Falls, SD; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
