He was the son of Arvid and Nellie Hornstein Hagberg. He married Elsie Lingbeck May 1, 1935, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He grew up near Rushmore and attended country school. After marriage, the couple farmed in the Rushmore area. They moved to Worthington, Minnesota where Ray was a trucker, they returned to farming in Fulda and Balaton. In 1976, they retired and two years later moved to Tyler. Raymond died on Thursday, October 6, 2005, at the Tyler Healthcare Center at the age of 92. Surviving are his wife; two sons: Virgil (Carrie) Hagberg, Brookings, SD and Duane (Marilyn) Hagberg Sioux Falls, SD; three daughters: Marlene (Johnny) Wajer, Slayton, MN; Judy (Gary) Heron, Lakeville, MN, and Linda (Nick) Ribordy, Loveland, CO; one brother Leonard Hagberg, Milwaukee,WI; one sister Viola Brunk, Fulda; 23 grandchildren; three step- grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 10, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Tyler, MN.
