Hager was born January 23, 1941, in Lime Creek, the daughter of Anton and Sarah Shea Hager. She grew up on the family farm and attended Lime Creek Country School and St. Gabriel's Catholic School. She graduated from Fulda High School and attended Mankato State University for two years. While in college Mary was especially interested in Political Science courses. She worked for the U.S. State Department at Washington D.C. briefly before taking a position with Department of Protocol. Mary worked under the Kennedy Administration for a year. Her ofice helped coordinate many aspects of President Kennedy's funeral and the inauguration of Lyndon Johnson. In 1966, she moved to Minneapolis and worked for the Medical Journal as Circulation Manager. Due to health problems Mary quit her job and did some secretarial work at home. She moved to Fulda in 1975, and then in 1976, became a resident at Slayton Manor Nursing Home. In 1979, she moved to Maple Lawn Nursing Home at Fulda, and resided there until a recent illness caused her to be taken to the Slayton Hospital. She passed away at the hospital October 1, 1994. Mary was very interested in politics and enjoyed reading and listening to the radio. Mary is survived by three sisters, Dolores, Mrs. Leo Crowley, of Fulda, Pat, Mrs. Richard Lund of Eatonville, WA, and Shirley, Mrs. Vernon Bach of Minneapolis; one aunt, Louise Hager, and many friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral mass was at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 4, 1994, at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Fulda, with Fr. Eugene Egan officiating. Mary Ann Boom was the organist and Sheila Crowley was the soloist. The pallbearers were Daniel Crowley, Glenn Crowley, Patrick Crowley, Jerry Crowley, Michael Crowley, Fred Bach, and ______ Bach. Interment at St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Fulda.
