Hoehn, age 80 of North Mankato, formerly a lifelong resident of Madison Lake, died on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at Nancy?s Comfort Kare of Kasota. Funeral Mass were held on Friday, September 3, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake. Calvin Charles Hoehn was born on May 24, 1924 in Madison Lake to Charles and Eva (Frederick) Hoehn. He attended All Saints School in Madison Lake and College High School in Mankato. He was a life long member of All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake. On December 27, 1956 he was united in marriage to Audrey Ulman at Saint Peter and Paul?s Catholic Church in Mankato. They lived in Madison Lake where Calvin was a bricklayer mason and operated the Hoehn Nursery. He retired from masonry work at the age of 62 and continued to operate the nursery for many years. Calvin was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local No. 1. He acquired the skills of the trade working with his father as a teenager. His craftsmanship lives on in the many buildings he constructed throughout the years. He was a diabetic for over 60 years and a member of the American Diabetes Association. He was very proud to have been among the ranks of the longest living diabetics due to his diligence, healthy lifestyle and assistance from his wife whom over the years he gave most of the credit. He enjoyed family, sports and gardening. He had a reputation of being a local master gardener. Calvin is survived by ten children and their spouses: Lisa and Mike Peterson of Fulda, MN, Terry and Shari Hoehn of St. Peter, MN, Michelle Hoehn of Buffalo Grove, IL, Peter and Linda Hoehn of Port Byron, IL, Colette and Don Grier of Cedar Park, TX, Mary Gen and Jerome Reutzel of Chanhassen, MN, Marla and Patrick Kirby of Mountain View, CA, Claver and Sheri Hoehn of Apple Valley, MN, Alan Hoehn of St. Paul, MN, and Ann and Mark McDonald of Holmen, WI; 21 grandchildren; two sisters: Elaine Rollins of Pemberton, MN and Anita Gostomczik of Waseca, MN; and one brother Joseph and his wife Carol Hoehn of Worthington, MN. He is preceded in death by his wife in 2003, his parents, brothers: Claver and Aloysius, grandson Matthew McDonald, and brother-in-laws: Joseph Gostomczik and Willard Rollins.
