Holinka was held Friday, November 3, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Burial was in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester. Mr. Holinka, 78, a longtime resident of Byron, died Monday, October 30, 2006, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester of leukemia. He was born March 7, 1928, in Fulda, Minn. On January 17, 1949, he married Norma Gates in Windom, Minn. Following their marriage, they moved to Rockford, Ill., Windom, Minn., and later to Spokane, Wash. They then settled in Byron, where they lived for 48 years. He was a self employed building contractor and was retired from Mayo Clinic. His wife is a retired surgical technician from Rochester Methodist Hospital. He was a Navy veteran of World War II; was a member of the Lions Club and St. Pius X Catholic Church; and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Rita (Adam) Kino of Arlington, Texas, Kathy (Bert) Milam of Lewisville, Texas, Sue (Carroll) Bidwell of Rochester and Carol (Dan) Wurdeman of Owatonna; a son, Richard of West Concord; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Pat) of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister, Rosalie Hjelmberg of Sycamore, Ill. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Joe, Damond, Wally and a sister, Marge.
