FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: January 2006 ========================================================================= Carol Ann Johlfs was born on April 30, 1931, in Mitchell, South Dakota to Tillman and Norma Young Bolin. In 1938, the family moved to Slayton, Minnesota. Carol grew up in Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1949. On June 3, 1949, she and Wallace Johlfs were married in Algona, Iowa. Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton and raised their six children. Carol worked as an assistant at the Veterinary Clinic in Slayton and also as a Deputy Registrar at the License Center for many years. Due to failing health, Carol entered the Our House Hospice Home in Slayton and passed away there on January 17, 2006, at the age of 74. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Slayton and also was very active in the UPW where she had served as secretary and taught release time. Carol was a Democratic Party Chairwomen and Election Judge for many years. Carol enjoyed bird watching, gardening, reading, doing crafts, and playing bridge. Survivors include her husband Wally, Slayton, six children and their spouses; Shannon and Wayne Pederson, Slayton; Sue Brown, Slayton; Sally and Tom Berg, Slayton; Bill Johlfs, Avoca; Lynn and Dan Iwaszko, Shoreview, MN; and Kris and Jeff Salmon, Tracy; eight grandchildren: Robert Brown, Cory Brown, David (Natalie) Brown, Leah Berg, Brandan Iwaszko, Taylor Iwaszko, Reed Salmon, and Blake Salmon; four great-grandchildren: Megan Brown, Daylen Brown, Laney Brown and Dawson Brown; one brother William and his wife Sandy Bolin, Garvin. She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant son Michael. Funeral services were held at First Presbyterian Church Slayton, MN on Saturday, January 21, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. David Poppen officiating. The organist was Nola Aanenson. The soloist was Tom Hook. The pallbearers were all grandchildren.
