He grew up in Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1974. He attended Crookston Technical College after high school. David worked in Mankato for a few years then moved back to Slayton. The past several years, David lived at Southgate Apartments in Slayton. He also helped his parents at their home in Slayton. David passed away on February 22, 2005, in Worthington, Minnesota at the age of 48. He was baptized, confirmed and a life member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. David enjoyed fishing, reading, caring for the family farm and working with his dad in the garage and at the farm. Survivors include his parents,Jim and Yvonne Klingbeil, Slayton, MN; three brothers and their wives: Bill and Barbara Klingbeil, Brooklyn Park, MN; Doug and Mary Klingbeil, Niwot, CO; and Philip and Caryn Klingbeil, Bloomington, MN; niece Andrea (Dan) McLaughlin, Champlin, MN and one grand niece Abby McLaughlin, Champlin, MN. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Memorial Services were held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Saturday, February 26, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Duane Miller officiating. The organist was Twyla Hungerford. The soloist was Leon Kruse. Interment is in Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
