Knorr was born on February 23, 1924 on a farm near Merrill, Iowa to Gustave and Minnie Kammeier Knorr. The family moved to a farm near Brewster, MN in 1931 and in 1937, they moved to another farm near Lime Creek, MN. He grew up on these farms and attended country school near Brewster. He farmed with his father until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946. Following his discharge in 1947, he worked for Ole Landers raising turkeys. On September 8, 1956 he and Ruby Paul were married at St. Paul?s Church in Fulda, MN. Following their marriage they lived in Fulda. Don worked for many years at Rich?s Skelly and later at Mike?s Skelly, as a mechanic. He retired in the mid-1980?s. Ruby passed away on October 20, 1986. For the past several years Don has had a special friend, Evalyne Clark, with whom he spent several winters in Arizona. Don passed away on November 19, 2004 at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 80. He was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church. Don enjoyed driving around the countryside looking at wildlife, hunting and drinking coffee with his friends. Survivors include: step-daughter, Deloris Knorr of Fulda; three step- grandchildren and their spouses: Mike and (Joy) Knorr, Mark and (Deb) Knorr, Lori Knorr; five step-great-grandchildren: Scott, Liza Knorr, Ryan, Paul and Reid Knorr; two brothers, and three sisters and their spouses: Darleen Cale of Sioux City, IA, Joyce Schweigert of Fulda, Lola and Orville Schwarz of Orr, MN, Bob and Deloris Knorr of Fulda, and Fred and Mary Knorr of Fulda. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruby, brothers, Bill, Walt, Earl, Leonard, Gus Knorr, and sister, Wilma Noble. Funeral services were held at St. Paul?s Church in Fulda, MN on Monday, November 22, 2004 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Dwayne Schroeder officiating. The organist was Irene Wahl. The singers were Deb Knorr and Ryan Knorr. The pallbearers were Mark Knorr, Mike Knorr, Todd Knorr, Scott Knorr, Randy Noble, Ryan Knorr and Paul Knorr. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery in Fulda, MN.
