Koob was born at Iona, MN on November 30, 1911 to Joseph and Wermerskirchen Koob. He grew up in Iona and graduated from St. Columba High School. He worked for various farmers in the Iona area until 1933 when he took over the Koob family farm operation. In 1946 he bought the Case Implement business in Marshall and operated that until 1948. From 1948-1950, Aloy was in the livestock business as an employee then in partnership with Ben Wagner in Iona. In 1951, Aloy went to work for I.D.S. and was the representative in the Murray County area until his retirement in 1974. Aloy has lived with his sisters, Ionilla and Bernetta in Iona. Due to failing health, Aloy moved to the Slayton Manor Care Center in May 2005 and passed away there on September 5, 2005 at the age of 93. He was a member of St. Columba Church in Iona all of his life and belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was also the Iona Township Assessor from 1935-1943. Aloy enjoyed hunting, fishing, his many fishing trips to Canada, baseball, filling silo and harvesting at the Koob farm and gardening. Survivors include his brothers and sisters and their spouses: Cyril and Olivia Koob of Slayton; Quirinus and Evelyn Koob of Worthington; Bernetta Koob of Iona; and sisters-in-law, Loretta Koob of Slayton and Ellen Koob of Somerset, OH. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Ionilla Koob, Nita Thompson and Suzanne Ottilie and brothers, Melchior and Hilary J. (Puzzy), and Joseph Koob. Funeral services were held at St. Columba Church in Iona, MN, on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Patrick Arens officiating. The organist was Sharon Lais. The song leader was Joanne Halbur. The communion minister was Teresa Ford. The server was Mick McCormick. The pallbearers were all nephews.
