She grew up in St. Louis Park, MN and in Iowa for a few years until moving to Fulda when she was 15 years old. She graduated from Fulda High School in 1950. Judy was united in marriage to A. W. Koopman on June 21, 1952 in Fulda. After their marriage they moved to San Francisco, CA for a short time before returning to Fulda. They remained in Fulda where they raised their six children. Judy passed away on November 29, 2004 at the age of 72 at her home. Judy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda, where she helped organize the annual Soup and Pie dinner and belonged to Bible Study. She loved her grandkids and taking care of them. She also enjoyed playing cards, embroidering blankets, watching the Minnesota Twins, traveling, bowling and playing bingo. Survivors include her husband A.W. Koopman; six children and their spouses, Del Koopman Jr. of Fulda, MN, Dan and Joleen Koopman of Heron Lake, MN, Curt and Jeanne Koopman of Warroad MN, Brian and Jill Koopman of Worthington, MN, Tami and Tim Kremer of Willmar, MN and Nita and Jared Mahrt of Omaha, NE; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Brown II of Massena, IA; sister, Bette Goedtke and her husband, Eldon of Jacksonville, FL; other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Randy Koopman. Funeral services at the First Presbyterian Church, Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 3, 2004 with the Rev. Michael Foster officiating. The organist is Mary Jean Buschena. The pianist is Norma Meyeraan. Special music by the Koopman Quartet. The pallbearers are her grandsons, Roger Koopman, James Koopman, Joseph Koopman, Dallas Koopman, Ryan Koopman, Adam Kremer, Lucas Kremer and Bradley Fowler. Honorary pallbearers are Dick Lawsen, Jerome Hammerschmidt, Bill Fuerstenburg, Doug Kitner, Gary Grothe, Leroy Lanoue and Art Fuchs. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery, Fulda, MN. Dateline Fulda: Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
