FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: February 2006 ========================================================================= MURRAY COUNTY 1918 - Billie Krohn - 2006 Bill Krohn was born on June 7, 1918 on a farm in Swift County near Benson, MN to William and Sadie Pierce Krohn. He grew up on the farm and attended country school. The Krohn family moved to a farm near Fulda in the mid 30's and Bill worked in the drainage business where his work was done with a spade. He was married to Yavonne Cohrs in the early 1940's and they had five children, Nancy, Terry, Pierce, Noreen and Debra. In 1945 he and his brothers started the Krohn Brothers Tiling Business. In 1949 he and his family moved to a farm north of Slayton where Bill continued in the tiling business, farmed, and raised livestock. Bill and Marti Guthman were married in 1970 and they had two sons, Scott and Jason. Bill operated Krohn Construction Company with his son, Terry. Bill farmed in Mason Twp. north of Slayton with his son, Jason. Bill passed away on January 30, 2006 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls SD at the age of 87 years. Bill enjoyed fishing, attending races, traveling to Las Vegas, all types of sports, and was a former boxer and boxing fan. Spending time with his family was Bill's favorite pastime. Survivors include his seven children and their spouses: Nancy and Glen Jurrens of Pipestone, Terry and Virginia Krohn of Slayton, Pierce and Irene Krohn of Farmington, MN, Noreen Rupp of Sioux Falls, SD, Debra Rupp of Pipestone, MN, Scott Krohn of Atlanta, GA, and Jason and Jennifer Krohn of Slayton; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; sister, Wanda Espeset of Rushmore, MN and brother, Duane, and his wife, Nadine Krohn of Worthington. He is preceded in death by one sister, Audra O'Clair and two brothers, Verne and Robert Krohn. Funeral Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Rollin Haynes officiating. The organist is Twyla Hungerford. Special music is by Jennifer Daugs. The pallbearers are Dick Engelkes, Merlyn Anderson, Paul Malone, Dean Gertesma, David Swenson and Tim Bloom. Interment is at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN. Visitation will be on Wed. from 4-8 PM at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. ========================================================================= Copyright Judy Clarke 2006.
