She grew up in Hadley and graduated from Slayton High School In 1946. On September 21, 1949 she and Harold Larson were married at the Hadley Lutheran Church in Hadley. Following their marriage they lived in Hadley and Eleanor worked at the creamery and did babysitting. Later she worked for the A.R.C and was the representative for 11 counties. Eleanor and Harold were foster parents and took in 32 children over the years. Eleanor was the bookkeeper for the City of Hadley for 25 years. Eleanor passed away on September 27, 2004 at the Our House hospice house in Slayton at the age of 76. She was a lifetime member of the Hadley Lutheran Church and belonged to WELCA and also taught Sunday School. She was one of the original board members of New Dawn in Fulda. Eleanor helped to get Special Olympics started in Murray County. She was a charter member of the Hadley Lioness Club and also was a RSVP member. Eleanor served on the boards of the D.A.C., Home for Creative Living in Windom, and the Willmar State Hospital advisory board. Recently she received the Presidential Citation for all of her volunteer work. Eleanor enjoyed knitting, quilting, crocheting, and camping. Eleanor was the Hadley historian and had a history book, ? Hadley Heritage? published in 2003. Genealogy was important to her and besides doing research on her family; she also enjoyed helping many people with their ancestry. Survivors include her husband, Harold Larson of Hadley; two children and their spouses; Dean and Donna Larson of Hadley, and Julie and Larry Bonnstetter of Slayton, five grandchildren; Mitchell, Kristina and Ann Larson, Olivia and Nicole Bonnstetter, one great grandson, Landen Bonnstetter. She is preceded in death by her parents. Memorial Services will be held at Hadley Lutheran Church in Hadley, MN on Thursday, September 30, 2004 at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Jon Skaar officiating. The organist is Marilyn Zinnel. Interment is at the Highland Home Cemetery in Hadley, MN.
