1917 - Carolina Bertha Leebens - 2004 Carolina Leebens was born on June 17,
1917, in rural Fulda, Minnesota to Harry and Lena Ohlenkamp Breese. She grew
up on a farm near Avoca and attended country school. On December 19, 1937,
she and Elmer H. Leebens were married at Iona. Following their marriage,
they lived on the Leebens family farm near Dundee until 1943, when they
moved to a farm near Iona. In 1948, they moved back to the farm near Dundee
and farmed there while raising their three children. Elmer passed away on
March 9, 1975. Carolina moved to Slayton in 1976. Due to failing health, she
moved to the Slayton Manor Care Center in August 2004. Carolina passed away
at Our House Hospice Home, in Slayton on November 27, 2004, on at the age of
87. Carolina enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include three children and their spouses: Sharon Schroeder,
Windom; Lonnie and Marian Leebens, Slayton and Roger and Janell Leebens,
Worthing, SD; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and cousin Elfrieda
Ohlenkamp, Fulda, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer; sister
Eleanora Gerdes; and son-in-law Ralph Schroeder.

Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on
Tuesday, November 30, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. John T. Stern
officiating. The organist was Kathy Schwartz. All of the grandchildren were
pallbearers: Dean Schroeder, Scott Leebens, Russ Leebens, Rick Leebens, Doug
Schroeder, Dale Schroeder, Tim Leebens, Dennis Schroeder, Dan Schroeder,
Barb Bangasser, Andrea Helwig, Marcie Mullin, and Donelle Gerlach. Interment
is at Dundee Lutheran Cemetery, Dundee, MN.
