FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: March 2005 ========================================================================= born in Iona, MN, grew up in Fulda, MN, services in WA state Lester Lucht, retired Personnel Director for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, died March 14th of complications related to Parkinson's Disease. He started his career in the Justice Department as a Correctional Officer and Boat Operator at McNeil Island Federal Penitentiary, and worked his way into administration for the Prison Bureau. After his retirement in 1975, Lucht earned his Master;s Degree in Psychology and worked as a counselor for several years until his illness forced his return into retirement. Lucht's hobbies were wood-working and writing, leaving a rich legacy of his memoirs and poetry. Lester was born in Iona Minnesota and grew up in the Fulda Minnesota area. He was married to Alvina Steffes on June 9, 1947. He is survived by Alvina, his wife of 57 years, daughters Mara, Vicki, Michelle and Heidi, and son Lester Jr. He had 18 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Etheleen Busch. Vigil services for Lester Lucht were held on Thursday, March 17th at Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma Washington. Memorial Mass was Friday, March 18th at St. Charles Catholic Church. A military ceremony with full honors and interment was held March 21st at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Miami FL 33136 or the Franciscan Hospice at 2901 Bridgeport Way, University Place OR 98466. ========================================================================= Copyright.
