She grew up on the family farm, attended country school, and graduated from Slayton High School in 1937. On June 30, 1962, she and Edwin Miller were married at St. Ann's Church in Slayton. Following their marriage they lived in Slayton. Alyce worked as a medical technician for Dr. Williams and then Dr. Patterson for 45 years. She ran the dialysis machine in Slayton for 10 years. Alyce passed away on April 15, 2005, at the Heart Hospital of South Dakota in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 85. She was a member of St. Ann's Church, was active in the W.C.C.W., was a life member of the Catholic Daughters and the Legion of Mary. Alyce enjoyed reading, watching television and cooking. Survivors include her husband Ed Miller, Slayton, MN; five sisters and their husbands: Mary and Glenn Curtis, and Carmel Brouillet all of Slayton; Joan Walters, Tracy; Geraldine and Ray Milewski, Minneapolis, MN; Theresa and Ed Tomsche; Melrose, MN and sisters-in-law, Arlene Miller, Burnsville, MN and Arlene West, Tracy, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Joe West and two sisters, Patricia Knuth and Betty West. Funeral services were held at St. Ann's Church in Slayton, MN on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Patrick Arens officiating. The organist was Judy Andrews. The singers were Tim and Chelsey Bass. The pallbearers were Paul Lowagie, Dave Bockelman, Linus Dardis, Tim Bass, Tony Clarke, and Chuck Vos. Interment is at St. Ann's Cemetery, Slayton, MN.
