FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: February 2006 ========================================================================= 1927 - Elmer Eugene Miller - 2005 "Bud" Bud Miller was born on October 5, 1927, on a farm in Lowville Township, Murray County, Minnesota to Charles and Mary Wilkinson Miller. He grew up on the family farm and attended District #23 country school. Bud farmed with his father, then worked for Morrell in Sioux Falls, Hallett Road Construction and as a farm hand for Anton Nelson before he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Korean Conflict. After his discharge in 1952, he returned to the family farm where Bud lived most of his life. On July 2, 1960, he and Ethel Mae McConnell were married at the United Methodist Church in Slayton. Bud worked at various jobs from 1959 until 1964, when he started his own salvage business. He retired in 1988. Bud has been afflicted with Parkinson's Disease since 1980. He became a resident of the Slayton Manor Care Center in October 2000, and passed away there on January 26, 2005, at the age of 78. He was member of the United Methodist Church at Lake Wilson. He belonged to the Slayton Legion and Iona VFW. Bud enjoyed working on cars, car racing and was involved with the Slayton Speedway in the mid 1970's; playing cards, fishing, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Mae Miller, rural Hadley; four children and their spouses: Stanley and Verna DeBough, Hampton, MN; Barb and Royce Marble, Slayton, MN; Brian Miller, Hadley, MN; and Bonnie Gullickson, Marshall, MN; 12 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce and Doug; two brothers, George and Earl Miller; sister Eva Hollenbeck, grandson Troy; and great-granddaughter Sage. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Lake Wilson, MN on Monday, January 30, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating. The organist was Janet Voges. The pallbearers were Allan Miller, Buddy Kline, Mark Miller, Don Anderson, Ben Marble and Brian Marble. Interment is at the Slayton Cemetery, Slayton, MN.
