FileFormatted by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: October 2004 ========================================================================= 1931 - Edison Campbell Muir - 2004 Edison Muir was born on July 21, 1931, at Westville, Nova Scotia, Canada to Alexander and Margaret Campbell Muir. He grew up in Westville and graduated from Westville High School in 1950. He attended college for a year and a half. In 1957, Ed moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he met Maurine Funk. They were married on March 30, 1958, in Las Vegas. Following their marriage, they lived in several locations and settled in the San Francisco bay area in 1981. Ruth passed away on August 6, 1997. Edison then moved to Slayton with his daughter Vicki and her family. He lived with them until the time of his death. Edison worked in the telecommunications business in California and at the M & M Store in Slayton. Due to failing health he retired in March 2004. Edison passed away on August 3, 2004, at the Murray County Memorial Hospital in Slayton at the age of 73. Growing up in Nova Scotia, Ed developed a love for Scottish music, especially pipe bands. As a youngster, Ed played in three pipe bands as a side drummer. In later years Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, especially working on antique trucks with his grandson, Edison. He also had a deep interest in studying the civil war and working on his railroad project. Survivors include two children: Vicki and her husband Nelson Dengler, Slayton and Robert Muir, San Francisco, CA; one grandson, Edison Dengler, Slayton; a brother Fraser Muir and his wife Joan, Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada; two nephews and three nieces and their spouses: Donald Muir, Toronto, Canada; Sheona and John Ayles, Alberta, Canada; Ellen and Danny Novosad, Montreal, Canada; Sandy and Heather Muir, Calgary, Canada and Brenda and Dalton Wenstob, Cochrane, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Maurine. Memorial services were held at St. Ann's Church in Slayton, MN on Friday, August 6, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. with Monsignor Paul Evers officiating. The organist was Judy Andrews. The song leader was Lavina Fox. Tom Parliman was the bagpiper. The honorary pallbearers were Mike Paulsen, Chuck Like, Steve Telkamp, and Phil Swenson. Interment is at St. Ann's Cemetery, Slayton, MN.
