Ethel Devert Nelson, the daughter of Nels C. and Helene Hansen Petersen, 

was born on April 9, 1907 in Bondin Twsp., Murray County, Minnesota. She 

grew up on the family farm and attended school in Avoca, MN. Ethel 

graduated from the Fulda High School in 1925. Ethel was united in marriage 

to Harold C. Nelson on November 28, 1928 in Slayton, MN. After their 

marriage they lived in Fulda and ran the Nelson Drug Store. Ethel continued 

living at home after Harold passed away on September 15, 1980. She entered 

the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda in October 2001 and passed away there 

at the age of 98. She Was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fulda 

where she was active in the ladies aid and was a charter member of the 

Fulda Pink Ladies. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and playing bridge.



Survivors include her three sons and their spouses, Harold and Lylah Nelson 

of Winnebago, MN, Rollin and Barbara Nelson of Seymour, TN and David Nelson 

of Los Angeles CA; one granddaughter, Susan Miner and her husband Stevan of 

Winnebago, MN; one grandson, Scott Nelson of Winnebago, MN; many nieces, 

nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her 

parents, husband, son, Donald one granddaughter, three sisters and seven 

brothers. 



Funeral Services were held at First Presbyterian Church Fulda, MN at 11:00 

AM on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 with the Rev. Kristi Mitchell officiating. 

The organist was Mary Jean Buschena. The soloist was A.W. Koopman. 

The pallbearers were Jim Haar, Roger Haar, Mark Hemingsen, Lowell Meier, 

Al Ruesch and Mike Peterson. Interment is at the Prairie Hill Cemetery, 

Fulda, MN.
