FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: December 2004 ========================================================================= 1927 - Arlin Ralph Obermier - 2004 Arlin Ralph Obermier was born on January 6, 1927, to Walter and Anna Obermier of Waco, Nebraska, the fifth of 11 children. Arlin served in the Unites States Air Force from 1950 to 1955, first of F.E. warren in Cheyenne,Wyoming and then with the Allied Air Forces in Central Europe close to Paris, France. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Arlin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, Michigan and also attended a weekly Wednesday morning Bible class in Reed City. During his years in Thayer, Nebraska, he taught Sunday School at Zion Lutheran Church. Arlin enjoyed working with his hands, and was a skilled tradesman. He worked as a farmer, general laborer, owner/operator of a welding shop, carpenter, manager of a mobile home plant, manager of an aluminum plant, and during his retirement years became a self-employed building contractor. Arlin passed away on Saturday, November 20, 1004, at Spectrum Health in Reed City after a brief battle with cancer. He was 77. Arlin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Surviving Arlin are his wife Phyllis; his six children: Michelle (David) Erickson, Slayton, MN; Linda Obermier, Evart, Michigan; Gregory (Hye Suk) Obermier, Mary Esther, FL; Nancy (Phillip) Seath, Reed City, Michigan; Michael (Linda) Obermier, Troy, Ohio and Karen (Scott) Paine, Hersey, Michigan. Also surviving are his 12 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held at the McDowell Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, Michigan.
