She grew up in Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1973. On October 15, 1977 she and Lowell Pals were married at the United Methodist Church in Slayton. Following their marriage they lived in Slayton and Kim worked at Finley Engineering and later at United Prairie Bank in Slayton. Kim also did bookkeeping for Don's Trucking. Kim passed away on October 2, 2004 at her home in Slayton at the age of 49. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Slayton. She was treasurer of the Women's Guild and past coordinator for bible school for many years. Both her and Lowell were counselors for R.C.Y.F. Kim loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, decorating, baking, flower gardening, shopping, and cats. Kim also was the family historian. Survivors include her husband; Lowell Pals of Slayton, her parents, Don and Aldora Cochran of Slayton, one brother, Kraig and Jeanne Cochran of Slayton, two sister-in-laws and their spouses, Gretchen and Ted Swanson of Cannon Falls, MN, and Beth and Leroy Kalass of Slayton, MN, one brother- in-law, Harley and his wife, Nell Pals of Lake Benton, MN, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her grandparents. Funeral Services were held at the First Reformed Church in Slayton, MN at 10:30 AM on Tuesday October 5, 2004 with Rev. Mark Ellens officiating. The organist was Viola Hoekman. The congregational Hymns were #677, Soon and Very Soon and, #21 How Great Thou Art. The soloist was Heidi Winters. The pallbearers were Don Dreesen, Tim Bouw, Steve Leek, Corey Vandenbosch, Mike Kirchner, and Bob Schreurs. Interment at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
