He was raised in the Slayton and the Worthington area. Jack attended school in Avoca. He married Norma Mauldin on May 18, 1946, they had eight children together. Jack married Loretta Wilkinson on February 2, 1979. Jack died on December 16, 2004 at the Countryview Manor in Sibley, Iowa. Jack is survived by his wife, Loretta, along with his children, Meridel (Wendell) Folkerts, of Albia, Iowa, Michael (Annette) Petersen, of Ottumwa, Iowa, Karen Mohrman of Kalispell, Montana, Terry Petersen, of Ottumwa, Iowa, Jackie C (Laurie) Petersen, Worthington, Minnesota, Janice Toopes of Lisbon, Iowa, Leann (Michael) Fisher of Brewster, Minnesota and Reed Petersen of Ottumwa, Iowa; one sister, Dorothy Minnick of Alexandria, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Michael, one great granddaughter, Paige Fisher and one brother-in-law, Duane Minnick. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at Worthington Baptist Temple, with Pastor Jim Sickmeyer officiating. Burial was held at the Slayton Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Slayton, Minnesota.
