Born Slayton, MN  - Murray County - Died  Concord, CA  - Contra Costa County

 

Beverly Jean Saling was born October 29,1932, at Slayton, Minnesota to 

James and Louisa Smith. Her mother and she moved to Port Chicago, California 

when she was 13 years old where they joined her father who was employed 

there. She attended school in Concord, California and graduated from Mt. 

Diablo High School. On March 14, 1952, she married George Saling. They 

celebrated 33 years of marriage. George passed away in 1985. Beverly Jean 

Saling passed away October 29, 2005 at the Concord California Nursing Home. 



She is survived by two daughters, Iva (Bill) Cochran, Bay Point,

 California; Barbara (Bobby) Oliver, Bay Point, California, two sons: 

James and George, Bay Point, California; three grandchildren Teresa, 

Melissa and Michael and three great grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew 

and Jeremy. She is also survived by two sisters Lois Knutson, Slayton, 

MN and Eleanore Bunker, Currie, MN. She was preceded in death by her 

parents; her husband; a grandson Billy Cochran; four brothers: Chester 

Smith, Loveland, Colo.; Everett Smith, Concord, California; Harvey Smith 

and Hilliard Smith, Slayton, MN; and a sister Mildred Cohrs, Dovray, MN. 



Beverly will be remembered for her singing ability in her church when she 

was able to attend with her family. She will be greatly missed by her 

family and friends. 



Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 3, 2005, at the Ouimet 

Bros. Chapel. Graveside services followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 

Concord, California. 



Visitation on Thursday, November 17 at Totzke Funeral Home 1:00 to 2:00 

pm. Burial to follow at Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
