She was baptized and professed her faith in the Christian Reformed Church in Chandler. She attended Chandler Christian School and Chandler Public High School, graduating in 1958. On July 14, 1060, Lois married Duane E. Schmidt in Chandler and they made their home on a farm near Woodstock, Minnesota. Lois was a housewife her whole life, but also worked along side her husband on the farm. She was a life long member of the Christian Reformed Church in Chandler where she used her musical talent to serve as organist for 16 years. She also served as a Sunday School and Calvinette teacher. Lois enjoyed music, both playing and listening, traveling and sewing, but she truly loved spending time with her grandchildren. Lois became a resident of the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, Minnesota in August of 2004 as a result of failing health. On Tuesday, March 22, 2005, Lois died at the Luverne Community Hospital in Luverne, Minnesota at the age of 65. Lois is survived by her loving husband Duane, Edgerton, MN; one son Arlen and wife Lois, Woodstock, MN; three daughters: Shari and husband Mike Aman, Sioux Falls, SD; Diane and husband Gene Westenberg, Edgerton, MN and Shelli and husband Jason Menning, Edgerton, MN; ten grandchildren: Jody and husband Jeff Schaap; Jonathon, Cory and Jennifer Schmidt; Aric Aman, Derek and Tosha Westenberg; and Johnny, Jessica and Andy Menning; one brother Gerald (Jerry) and wife Janice Peters, Chandler, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one sister-in-law Evelyn Schmidt. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 26, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church, Chandler, MN with Pastor Timothy Brown officiating. Organist was Pat Holm. Soloists were Leann Tinklenberg and Betty Kooiman. Casket-bearers were Jeffrey Schaap, Cory Schmidt, Jonathan Schmidt, Derek Westenberg, Johnny Menning, Aric Aman and Andy Menning. Honorary casket-bearers were Jody Schaap, Tosha Westenberg, Jessica Menning and Jennifer Schmidt. Interment in Chandler Memorial Cemetery, Chandler, MN. Arrangements by Chandler Funeral Association, Chandler, MN.
