FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: March 2005 ========================================================================= Emma Mary Schnurr, the daughter of William and Anna Thoma Niichel, was born on December 21, 1900 in Sheldon, IA. She grew up and attended school in Sheldon. Emma was united in marriage to Herman Schnurr on January 19, 1920 in Granville, IA. After their marriage they farmed near Granville until 1929 when they moved to Hospers, IA. In 1948 they moved to a farm near Ashton, IA and in 1952 they moved to a farm near Tyler, MN. They moved to farm near Fulda in 1952 and she remained there after Herman's death in 1958. Emma moved into Fulda in 1966 and lived at her home until she entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in July of 1995. She passed away at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda on February 24, 2005 at the age of 104. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and belonged to the Catholic Daughters and the Alter Society. Emma was also a member of the Fulda Pink Ladies and the Fulda American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, shopping, traveling, sewing, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family. Survivors include her nine children and their spouses, Helen Land of Lakewood, CA, Blanche Eich of Sheldon, IA, Bernard Schnurr of Excelsior, MN, Donald and Millie Schnurr of Des Moines, IA, Mildred and Pete Thom of Phoenix, AZ, Irene and Jerry Martin of Phoenix, AZ, Mary and Jim Ahlers of Fulda, MN, Gerald and Nancy Schnurr of Des Moines, IA and Bertill Nepper of LeSuer, MN; 43 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great- grandchildren; two sisters; three brothers and one daughter-in-law, Nori Schnurr of Hospers, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Lucille, son, Edward, two grandchildren, three sons-in-law and one daughter-in-law. Funeral services were held at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2005 with the Msgr. Paul Evers officiating. The organist was Matt Vorthems. The soloist was Jerry Zins. The pallbearers were her grandsons, Rich Schnurr, Jim Joanning, Mark Ahlers, Chad Nepper, David Eich and Dough Schnurr. Interment at St. Gabriel's Catholic Cemetery, Fulda, MN.
