FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: October 2005 ========================================================================= 1921-CHARLES SCHUUR-2005 Charles Schuur, the son of Jacob and Gladys VanderVeen, was born on October 19, 1921 in Rushmore, MN. He moved with his family to a farm near Avoca, MN in 1927and then to Hollandale, MN in 1931. In 1932 they moved to Fulda, MN. He entered the US Army in July of 1942 serving in European Theatre in WWII until his Honorable Discharge in December of 1945. Charles was united in marriage to Irene Beeck on October 1, 1944 at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived in Worthington until 1951 when they moved to Fulda. Charles entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in 2003. Charles passed away at the Worthington Regional Hospital in Worthington, MN at the age of 83. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a member of AAL. Charles also belonged to the Fulda VFW Post 9017 in Fulda. He enjoyed his family, fishing, western movies, wrestling, boxing the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He also enjoyed Woodworking, gardening, making Christmas gifts for family and cutting quilt squares for mission quilts. Survivors include his wife, Irene of Fulda, four children and their spouses, Gladys and Jim Fleace of Austin, TX, Gary and Peggy Schuur of Fulda, Gloria and Chuck Timmerman of Balaton, MN and Diana and Marvin Holland of Lennox, SD; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters Elsie Linter, Rensina Bellinger, Katherine Tate, Shirley Werkman and her husband, Larry; two brothers and their wives, Jake and Aloha Schuur and Michael and Cheryl Schuur; three sisters-in-law, Rita, Icena and Eleanor Schuur. He is preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandchild and four brothers, Ralph, Ranko, John and Joseph Schuur. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fulda, MN on Monday, October 3, 2005 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Dwayne Schroeder officiating. The organist was Irene Wahl. The soloist was A.W. Koopman. The pallbearers were his grandchildren, Scott Schuur, Todd Schuur, Amy Thier, Chance Fleace, Melody Hammor, Travis Holland, Heidi Holland, Tamara Purrington, Jennifer Seubert and Deborah Timmerman. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN.
